| It
is the result of a labor that started at the end of the 70s
(seventies), when this zone was going through a crisis and
had been abandoned when the banana companies left the Southern
part of the Costa Rica.
A group of visionary farmers decided to grow a non-traditional
crop, produced by Costa Rican hands, and that would create
employment, infrastructure, well-being and that would be profitable.
On May 3rd 1986, the Cooperativa de Agricultores de Palma
Aceitera, COOPEAGROPAL R.L. was born.
The cooperative started by selling the fruit through a small
store that served as an intermediary between the associates
and other companies.
La
llegada de esta planta de producción, provocó
el aumento del cultivo de palma. en la región., acendiendo
hoy dia alrededor de 10.000 hectáreas de palma cultivada.
But the ideal of promoting a real development in the area
led to completing the whole process, not only growing the
palm but also producing the oil and more by-products. In 1993,
a modern oil extracting plant started working, which now reaches
high extraction indicators with excellent quality standards,
guaranteeing an optimal product, according to the exigencies
of the market. A completely natural oil.
